One of my favorite stories -- who know if it happened exactly like this or not – concerns Russia soon after the Soviet takeover. A commissar was haranguing a group of soon to be collectivized farmers on atheism. Christianity was ridiculous, the Resurrection a myth, etc.
When he paused for breath an Orthodox priest asked if he could say a few words. Grudgingly, the commissar agreed.
