After an excruciating week with attacks on my friends, I finally admitted the strain of my public life as a macroeconomic policy expert—on Twitter, Substack, opinion pieces, and press—during the pandemic was too much for me. I need a break.
I love economics and will continue to work quietly at the Jain Family Institute on macroeconomic research. The sea change in macroeconomics, fiscal and monetary policy, and the economics profession is well underway. I will continue to support these efforts with the best economics and humanity I can offer.
